The AMAs are celebrating their 50th birthday with the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special , a two-hour primetime show airing live Sunday, October 6 on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+. CBS and Dick Clark Productions are have been touting that the event will showcase the awards’ history, featuring iconic and never-before-seen moments as well as new performances from the likes of Nelly, Brad Paisley, Chaka Khan and Sheila E, Gladys Knight, Green Day, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Jennifer Hudson , Kane Brown, Mariah Carey , Raye and Stray Kids. The special will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ from 8-10 p.

m. ET/5-7 p.m.

PT. It will also stream live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers beginning Monday. In addition to the performers, Carrie Underwood, Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Lopez are set to make special appearances as will Jimmy Kimmel , a five-time AMA host.

Other slated to appear Sunday are AJ McLean, Cedric The Entertainer, Kate Hudson, Lance Bass, Reba McEntire, Samuel L. Jackson and Smokey Robinson. DCP and CBS said the awards portion of the AMAs, which are voted on by fans, will return in May 2025.

The last AMAs aired on ABC in 2022 and saw Taylor Swift win a record six times, bringing her total AMA haul to 40, more than anyone else in history. The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special is produced by Dick Clark Productions, with Michael Dempsey the executive producer. DCP is .
