Like the sum of all the things she loves, Laufey Lín Jónsdóttir has always been unapologetically herself. Better known by her stage moniker Laufey, the Icelandic singer-songwriter and Grammy award-winner has been enjoying somewhat of a banner year. What with her touring various parts of the world (the songstress was just in Singapore last week), ascending major festival stages and of course, the immense reception of her second album Bewitched .

It’s easy to understand why, especially when the sentimental songbird has been behind a certain musical renaissance , at least where modern jazz is concerned. But her music is mere part of her appeal. Ask anyone who’s a Lauver (Laufey’s fans) , and they’ll sing tunes of her infectious, undulating spirit.

Playful whimsy becomes her. It shows in the way her offbeat music videos play out, how she sheepishly addresses a crowd in front of her, and when she spearheads things like ‘ A Very Laufey Day’ or The Laufey Book Club that go a long way in instilling a sense of community in her equally eclectic fans. And maybe.

..just maybe, it shines through most every time she hits the stage in a Molly Goddard dress or two.

For anyone who’s been loyally following her content on social media, it’s easy to get a whiff of the off-kilter character who’s got her own idiosyncratic style. Brimming with unabashed femininity, it’s not uncommon to see her don uncompromising silhouettes that are the ultimate ode to girlhood—be it Godd.
