Varanasi: A team of Noida field unit of STF led by sub-inspector Akshya P K Tyagi got clues about involvement of liquor smugglers operating between Ghazipur and Patna. The team camped in Patna and nabbed four accused, including Vinay Kumar, Premchandra, Pankaj Kumar, and Bilendra Kumar of Patna on Aug 26. They were brought to STF Varanasi field unit office for interrogation and on Tuesday Premchand was taken to the site where bodies of two RPF jawans were found.

Premchand made an abortive bid to escape and suffered bullet injuries in the leg. These four had killed RPF jawans Mohammad Javed and Pramod Kumar on Aug 19 evening pushing them out of a speeding Badmer Express train on railway tracks in Gahmar area of Ghazipur. The two jawans were going to their training centre in Mokama in Bihar, and had checked activities of the liquor smugglers, who were halting the train by pulling chain repeatedly to load liquor consignments in the train.
