Learn more Keely Hodgkinson won gold in the 800m in Paris (Image: Getty) Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson has her eye on a luxury car as she looks to spend her prize winning cash. Hodgkinson raced to victory in the 800m on Monday night, becoming the first British woman to do so at the Games since Dame Kelly Holmes in 2004, and just the third since Ann Packer in 1964.

The 22-year-old is also the first British female track and field champion since Jessica Ennis-Hill at London 2012. The Atherton-born star clinched gold after she blitzed the race in 1:56.72, finishing ahead of Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma, and Kenya’s Mary Moraa after she expertly marshalled the track and unleashed the afterburners in the home straight.

Hodgkinson will receive around £39,000 for her triumph, after World Athletics announced earlier this year they would offer prize money to winning athletes for the first time. Speaking before her historic achievement, Hodgkinson admitted that a Porsche Cayman would be her first big purchase should she come top of the podium. function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.
