Actress and content creator, Motunde Sogunle, who is popular for her depiction of Motunde, the fictitious daughter of a social media character, Mr Macaroni, has said that though Nollywood has a tendency to stereotype actors, she has devised a way to escape that trap. She told Sunday Scoop , “Nollywood does have a tendency to stereotype actors, often restricting them to specific roles based on their previous works. It could also be as a result of how good an actor plays a role that every other director would want them to bring that character to every project.

To avoid being stereotyped, I strive to diversify my roles. My manager, Omotola Slasha, also screens scripts I receive to decide whether I would accept the role of not. I challenge myself with different characters in my head as well, so when I play a character, even if it’s similar to what I had done before, I would apply versatility and avoid being predictable.
