Friday, January 24, 2025 Rideau Canal Skateway Opens for the Season The Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa, one of the world’s largest outdoor skating rinks, continues to offer visitors a unique winter experience. As of now, all 7.8 kilometers of the Skateway are open for skating, stretching from Rideau Street to Dow’s Lake and Carleton University.
The skating season is in full swing, and the path is ready for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. For those who do not have their own equipment, rentals are available at Capital Skates, conveniently located at the Fifth Avenue access point. In addition, the famous BeaverTails huts are open for business throughout the weekend, offering delicious treats to warm skaters after they glide across the ice.
