Friday, July 12, 2024 American Airlines has opened new doors for students in Tulsa Tech’s aviation maintenance technology program by offering them access to over 3,000 industry mentors. This exciting partnership allows students to directly engage with the airline’s Tulsa-based aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) through regular interactions at both the maintenance base and on campus. Furthermore, high-achieving students will benefit from guaranteed interviews for job openings at American Airlines.

This collaboration is the latest chapter in a long-standing relationship between American Airlines and Tulsa Tech, aimed at nurturing the next generation of AMTs. Back in 2011, American Airlines made a significant contribution by donating a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft to the school, which continues to serve as a crucial resource for hands-on training. Additionally, the airline’s Tulsa-based AMTs have previously mentored Tulsa Tech student teams, helping them achieve recognition in the annual Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition.

“American is excited to officially partner with Tulsa Tech to mentor and train future generations of aviation maintenance technicians,” said Greg Emerson , American’s Vice President of Base Maintenance. “American’s Tech Ops – Tulsa maintenance base is the largest commercial aviation maintenance facility in the world and has been the backbone of our base maintenance program since 1946.
