Temperatures across Sussex could hit nearly 30 degrees this weekend and early next week as the county is expected to face a mini heatwave. Parts of Brighton, Hastings and Crawley are expected to see temperatures reach 29C on Monday, according to the Met Office. But the high twenties will be short-lived, with temperatures back down to 23C on Tuesday.

According to the Met Office, in Brighton temperatures will hover in the low twenties on Saturday, before peaking at a sweltering 27 degrees on Sunday and Monday. The heat will start to dissipate by Tuesday, and will settle back to highs of 23C for much of next week. The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency have issued a yellow heat health alert which is in place from 9am on Sunday, August 11, to 9am on Tuesday, August 13.

It indicates a danger to vulnerable people such as the elderly with existing health conditions and those who are likely to struggle with the heat. READ MORE: Heat health alert issued ahead of weekend heatwave Warmth for the weekend? Alex has the forecast..
