Saturday, July 20, 2024 In Bhubaneswar, local hoteliers are advocating for a significant revision of the current tourism policy. They believe the existing framework under the BJP government has not been effective in drawing sufficient numbers of both domestic and international tourists. Responding to this challenge, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) has developed a strategic “100 days proposal.

” This plan outlines necessary enhancements to the tourism infrastructure and aims to boost the overall attractiveness of the state as a tourist destination. As part of their recommendations, the HRAO urges the government to organize an immediate meeting with all relevant stakeholders. This includes travel trade organizations, to discuss and initiate the proposed changes.

The focus is on updating the Odisha Tourism Policy, which was initially introduced in 2022. The association emphasizes that upgrading the tourism infrastructure is essential for the sector’s growth in Odisha. They argue that without these critical improvements, the state will continue to underperform in attracting tourists, which is vital for the local economy.
