TRAVERSE CITY — Hospice of Michigan will host its fourth annual Barley, BBQ and Beats fundraiser next month. Hospice of Michigan Philanthropy Manager Andrew Parvel said this is their main fundraiser. They host several events around the state.

Last year’s event in Traverse City sold out, and they are approaching capacity for this year. “We expect another sell-out, which will put us in the 500-person range,” he said. Alcohol providers will include Bonobo Winery, Iron Fish Distillery, Mammoth Distilling, Traverse City Whiskey Company and more.

Food vendors include Blue Tractor Cook Shop, Chubby Unicorn, Fresh Coast Sliders and others. Vegan Baddies, from Detroit, will be offering an alternative. “We’ll have a variety of different options for people,” Parvel said.

The Good Bowl Executive Chef Tony Vu said they are planning to make a grilled lemongrass chicken with garlic fried rice. “This is something new we’re excited to bring out for this event,” Vu said. “It’s not available at the restaurant but has been a favorite secret lunch item the cooks put together.

” The rice, he said, is on the eatery’s dim sum menu. They offer this and other shareable dishes on Sundays and Mondays. Vu added that they are looking forward to joining the other barbecue vendors for this event.

“We’ll definitely have something unique and delicious and are excited to represent some bright and fresh Vietnamese flavors,” he said. Parvel said the Steve and Amy Van Andel Founda.
