Going viral after getting caught in a battle to secure a sunbed on holiday is probably the last thing you expect when you get back home. But one mum's video has gone viral after sharing a video of people flocking to secure a sunbed while on holiday. Claire Chivers, 43, her husband, John, 49, and their daughter, Freddie-Maie, eight, jetted off to sunny Benalmádena, Spain, expecting a relaxing week in the sunshine.

But as they arrived, the family-of-three quickly got caught up in a battle to secure the best sunbeds around the pool. The quality control manager shared the hectic mission on TikTok, racking up 414,000 views and over 3,000 likes, with the caption: “Ready, steady, go”. “We found it quite amusing, [as] you don’t spend thousands on a holiday to lie down all day,” the mum, from Midsomer Norton, told Luxury Travel Daily.

There were plenty of other sunbeds, chairs and sofas available, but these people rushing had to get poolside beds.” In the clip, taken on 13 July 2024, Claire films as a hoard of people rush toward the pool, throwing their towels on any seat available. Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions.

“My idea of holiday hell,” said Joe. Someone else commented: “That’s why I don’t go to places like this.” “Who is goner pickup all of the towels and throw them in the pool,” Mal added.

[sic] And another admitted: “I am glad I hate sunbathing." Claire claims between 8pm and 10am, the pool and sunbeds were closed wit.
