Monday, September 16, 2024 A two-day training program for homestay owners and a women’s catering group from the villages of Majrabari, Rangapani, and Daodhara in the Manas Landscape was recently organized by a leading biodiversity conservation organization in the region. The training aimed to equip participants with essential skills in hospitality management, focusing on room and kitchen management, guest services, sustainable cooking, hygiene, meal preparation, and food pricing. Held on September 11 and 12 at the organization’s Manas Conservation and Outreach Centre in Bhuyanpara, Baksa, the event brought together key resource persons to lead the sessions.

The training highlighted the importance of serving traditional delicacies to homestay guests, as many visitors seek an authentic cultural experience when staying in local accommodations. Participants were guided through practical sessions on preparing both traditional and non-traditional dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring a balance between cultural authenticity and culinary standards. The hands-on training also extended to managing guest rooms, with participants practicing bed-making and room arrangement to enhance the visitor experience.

Practical tips on food service and maintaining high hospitality standards were also shared, helping the participants understand the finer details of managing their establishments. One homestay owner from Rangapani expressed his appreciation for the training, noting that.
