Journalist and TV presenter Martel Maxwell has revealed the unconventional way she met her husband and it could come straight from the pages of a romance novel. Martel Maxwell is the popular host of the BBC ’s hit property show Homes Under the Hammer. She joined the daytime programme in 2017 when she took over from Lucy Alexander.

She now regularly appears alongside fellow hosts Martin Roberts and Dion Dublin . Before landing the gig in which she advises property owners on renovation work , Martel had the occasional appearance as a reporter on the BBC’s evening magazine programme The One Show and for ITV ’s morning chat show Lorraine during entertainment segments. She also trained as a journalist and worked for the Sun for seven years as a reporter.

She now has a regular column for the Evening Standard. Away from the spotlight, Martel loves to chill with her family and enjoys the privacy her home in Dundee provides. She lives in the stunning, open-planned Scottish home, which has huge windows to allow as much light and sun in as possible, with her husband Jamie Parrett and their three sons, Monty, Chester and Guthrie.

The couple had a very romantic beginning to their relationship because they are actually childhood sweethearts, who first met when they started school. They didn’t start dating though until they were teenagers, which is also when they had their first smooch. "I had met Jamie when I started school at five and had kissed him when we were teenagers," she ha.
