Tuesday, January 28, 2025 Hollywood Burbank Airport enters a bold new era as John T. Hatanaka leads the charge, spearheading a transformative passenger terminal project set for 2026. As he begins his role as Executive Director, John T.

Hatanaka is fully dedicated to the airport’s most transformative undertaking to date: the construction of a new passenger terminal. “It’s an exciting time for Hollywood Burbank Airport,” says Mr. Hatanaka.

“The biggest challenge concerning our new terminal is getting the entire team – including airport staff, airlines, design team and construction crews – aligned in our vision to create the best possible passenger experience for future travelers.” Scheduled to open in October 2026, the new facility will be located in the northeast quadrant of Hollywood Burbank Airport, positioned across the airfield from the existing terminal. Spanning 355,000 square feet and featuring 14 gates, the modern terminal is designed to replace the current structure, aligning with FAA regulations and state building codes.

John T. Hatanaka was appointed as the new Executive Director by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) following the recent retirement of Frank Miller. “John is poised to lead the Airport into this new era of growth and innovation,” says BGPAA President Ara Najarian .
