Walkers dodged attacks from the undead on the Holcombe Hill moors at the weekend. Almost 100 people embarked on the brisk four-mile trek of the annual Sunnywood Project Zombie Hike across the challenging terrain on Saturday as the sun set over Ramsbottom and Holcombe - while being warned supernatural beings may be lurking in the darkness. Zombie Hike (Image: Dan Lees) The hike, organised by not-for-profit outdoor events charity, The Sunnywood Project, has been running for four years and has been one of the projects most popular events.

Hikers were armed with torches, glow sticks to determine the level of fright they are up for and three ribbons of tape to tie around their waist which act as the "lives" the zombies try to take. The aim was to try and complete the event with at least one life still intact to prove they are true survivors. If all lives were lost, hikers were officially "infected".

Education and youth service director of the organisation, Marc Young, said: “It was a terrifyingly wonderful evening!
