A list of the top 150 destinations was compiled from this data. While the Nutmeg state did not crack the top 10, four locations wound up on the list. The highest-ranked hidden alternative bucket list locale was Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, according to a survey.
Its hiking trails, unique geological formations, and panoramic views at its observation tower earned it 85th on the list. Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill was next at 97th, according to Honest Eco. The location features one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America.
It also boasts interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, making for an educational destination to bring families. Gillette Castle State Park in Lyme barely snuck in the top 100 at 99th, according to a survey: “The unique, medieval-style castle built by actor William Gillette.” The park has walking trails, picnic areas, and beautiful views of the Connecticut River.
