Heather Greene grew fond of her grandparents' Louisiana farm during her childhood. The now-experienced Charleston restaurateur would join her grandmother in the kitchen. Its gaping windows offered front-row seats to the action on the farm as they cooked, canned vegetables and baked biscuits.
Those memories — and her grandparents’ burgundy cowboy boots — have made their way inside Greene’s new Charleston restaurant, which officially opens inside the two-story building at 247 Congress St. on Dec. 1.

Dec. 1. Part market and café, part restaurant and bar, Lillian’s will offer local produce, dairy, prepared food items, beer and wine in the room closest to its entrance at the corner of Congress and President streets.
Patrons can pick up those goods while they wait for coffee and pastries made in-house by Allison Brown. Unlike the cafés that discourage laptops , Lillian’s welcomes those looking to camp out with their computers in the revamped room next to the market, Greene said.
