Following Arrowhead Game Studios’ release of its most recent buff-focused patch, Helldivers 2 has seen a massive surge in players, going from as low as 10,000 yesterday to nearly 60,000 today. Of course, if you’ve been following the dev team’s constant updates through the game’s official Discord serve, this shouldn’t come as a surprise since CCO Johan Pilestedt has been teasing plenty of tweaks and improvements leading up to this new update. Now, if you’ve been taking a prolonged break from the never-ending Galactic War, some of the biggest changes included with the Helldivers 2 update 01.
001.100 patch notes are the buffs to the Breaker, Diligence, and Eruptor, as well as several positive tweaks to the game’s support weapons, like the Flamethrower. All of these improvements have been ones the community has been begging for ever since Arrowhead nerfed these pieces of equipment in past updates.
As of this writing, Helldivers 2 is sitting at 18th on Steam’s most-played games chart , with an ongoing player count of 51,500 and a peak of 59,181 in the past 24 hours. Although this doesn’t quite reach the heights of its all-time total, it’s still a massive improvement since the game’s battalion of interplanetary soldiers had been heavily dwindling over the past few weeks. In addition, Helldivers 2’s review rating on Steam has gone from ‘Mixed’ to ‘Mostly Positive,’ thanks to the update.
Now, only time will tell if the developers can sustain this return.
