One of the main criticisms that the Helldivers 2 developers face is that many of the updates specifically nerfs, are reactionary and often make little sense to the community. An example of this is the nerfing fire two days before the fire-themed Freedom’s Flame Warbond was released. After facing backlash from the community, it now looks like Arrowhead Game Studios is set to begin to justify future patches to explain why certain actions and changes are made.

The Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani took to X to say that he has been looking at feedback from the Helldivers 2 community following the release of the Escalation of Freedom update. This saw other players offer feedback and ask questions in the reply, including @kissdaconverse who asked if “the devs (could) publish a mission statement?” going on to say that “I believe by explaining their vision for the weapons it will help us understand buffs/nerfs.” Jorjani replied by saying that they will do this, but also that the developers will do a stream to explain it too saying “Great request! We’ll do one better – we’ll do that and we’ll do a stream where we unpack what it means!” This is a great way to approach updates in the future.

Arrowhead Game Studios has often been criticized by the community for releasing reactionary updates that often make little sense. If the developers explained their decisions and talked through them on stream, it would help the player base to understand and it would likel.
