Golconda and its surroundings received nearly 9 cm rain as Hyderabad and its surrounding districts experienced strong thunder and lightning and heavy rainfall on Saturday evening, with intense downpours causing disruptions across the city. The rain, which began around 6.30 pm, lasted for almost two hours and led to waterlogging and traffic congestion.

On noticing severe waterlogging or other related issues, residents have been encouraged to report them to local authorities for prompt action and immediate relief. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, the highest recorded rainfall was in Bhongir, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, at 103.3 mm.

In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, Golkonda received 91 mm, followed by Digwal in Sangareddy with 90.8 mm, while it was slightly less at Khairatabad and Asifnagar. Vijayanagar colony, CESS ward office, Karwan and Mehdipatnam also recorded substantial rainfall, ranging between 56.

0 mm and 77.5 mm. Neighbouring districts were not spared either, with Bommalaramaram in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district witnessing 67.

5 mm and the RDO office in Rajendranagar, Rangareddy district, recording 66.5 mm of rainfall. Patigadda in Secunderabad received 61.

3 mm, while Algole in Sangareddy registered 60.5 mm. These intense rains have been attributed to weather systems forming over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring more showers in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continuous rainfall in Telangana.
