A yellow heat health alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) as temperatures are set to soar across the UK. The UKHSA said the high temperatures could cause significant impacts across the health and social care sector. These impacts include observed increase in mortality across the population likely, particularly in the 65+ age group or those with health conditions, however, younger age groups may also be impacted.
It said increased demand for remote healthcare services is likely while internal temperatures in care settings (hospitals and care homes) may exceed the recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment.
