Fan favourite Amy Dowden has endured so much during her time on Strictly Come Dancing . The professional dancer, who joined the BBC competition in 2017, has Crohn's disease and recently battled breast cancer after finding a lump on her chest in May 2023. Following gruelling treatment, Amy, 34, was given the all-clear and returned to the dancefloor for the current series.

But TV chiefs had to make an urgent 999 call after she fell ill backstage on Saturday night. A representative for Amy said she was "feeling unwell" so an ambulance was called "as a precaution", and she is thankfully feeling "much better". Though, a source has claimed she may be forced to quit the show.

A source told The Sun: "Amy was obviously in huge distress. Everyone around her was equally upset because they felt so helpless. JB had to be given a hug.

Even the medic who first attended to Amy needed support and consolation. The only thing they could do was try to get her to hospital as quickly and safely as possible." The source suggested another professional could temporarily replace Amy if she doesn't feel up to it.

It wouldn't be the first time she has been forced to step down, as she was unable to dance last year during her cancer treatment. Strictly was a huge motivator for Amy to get better and it also made her question having chemotherapy.
