Alex Dimitriades, famed for his role as Nick Poulos in the '90s hit series Heartbreak High , a spin-off from the successful 1993 film The Heartbreak Kid, was just 21 when he started filming the Australian show, portraying a character several years younger than himself. The actor's journey on Heartbreak High came to an abrupt end in 1994 when Network Ten wouldn't cough up the cash for his return in the second series. His character Nick met a grim fate on-screen, but Alex's career didn't skip a beat, landing roles in other projects by the same creators, including the gritty police drama Blue Murder.

Reflecting on his breakout role as the 'cool kid' Nick, Alex reminisced with Daily Mail Australia in 2021: "I'm very lucky, in terms of how it was set up and structured." He shared his youthful naivety about the industry, saying, "I was a teenager and we did a movie first, The Heartbreak Kid and that was hugely successful..

. I was like a young new star and they really put me out there," reports OK! . Alex looked back at his early days: "And I had no idea what was going on, I was rolling with the punches and I was very, very young and just out there, living the dream I suppose.

.. I knew I was good at it [acting] and I knew I had potentially a good future with but it's not something I ever imagined doing.

It was pretty wild." Fast forward to today, and Alex has swapped acting credits for turntables, becoming one of Sydney's top DJs, rocking the decks under the moniker DJ Boogie Monste.
