DOZENS of pink, blue and green balloons were released in memory of a 'beautiful soul' and a 'friend to all' after his body was found near a city bridge. Nearly 50 people joined family and friends to mourn the death of Jonathan Goodwin at Diglis Bridge this evening (Sunday) after his body was found there earlier this month. Around 50 people gathered to say farewell to Jonathan.

Lanterns were also released into the sky with messages such as 'We Love You' and 'You Will Be Missed' written on them. Scott Johnson, Jonathan's friend and former stepbrother, had organised the gathering to help Jonathan's memory live on.

"It means too much that this many people turned up. 'BEAUTIFUL SOUL': Jonathan Goodwin (left), pictured with his grandad David Sherwood, has been remembered by friends as 'a friend to all'. (Image: Family) "It means a lot, especially with his former judo group as he used to go years ago.

"They have turned up and done donations." Mr Johnson had set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to cover funeral costs which has already reached over £600. He said he never expected so many people to reach out.
