It's been 16 months since Phillip Schofield helmed ITV's This Morning with Holly Willoughby, but he's being given another chance on TV. Schofield broke his silence yesterday after teasers showed him filming for Channel 5's reality TV show Cast Away this summer. The former This Morning presenter, 62, quit his previous role when he admitted to an "unwise, but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague who also worked on the show.

Schofield also stepped down from a number of other roles and initiatives that he was a part of, including being an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, . He has stayed away from the limelight since then, retreating to Cornwall to spend time with family and friends. However, as recent teasers have shown, we'll next see him on the island of Madagascar, off the south-eastern coast of Africa, as part of a Channel 5 production.

Photos show him dishevelled and alone on the remote island, where he will be fending for himself for 10 days while documenting the experience. A Channel 5 spokesperson has said that Phillip will be exploring the story of the past two years as he battles the elements. On an Instagram post, he said that the show would be "my story of survival, both on a desert island and off it.

“This is most definitely a first for me and the only thing I felt compelled to do. It appealed to me on so many levels. I’ve recently had a lot of time to think about my life, what went right and what went wrong, but I’ve always had the safe arms of frien.
