Thursday, November 7, 2024 In a significant move to highlight Haryana’s rich historical legacy, the state’s Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, unveiled plans to transform Kurukshetra and its neighboring areas into premier tourist spots. Kurukshetra, celebrated for its historical and mythological relevance, especially its association with the Mahabharata, will anchor a fresh tourism project known as the ‘Mahabharata Circuit.

’ Dr. Sharma outlined this ambitious vision at the second Mahabharata Circuit Conference in Karnal, where officials from Haryana Tourism and the Union Ministry of Tourism collaborated to explore the region’s tourism potential and development opportunities. The Union Ministry of Tourism organized the conference with a vision to transform historic sites in Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Panipat into major tourist hubs.

Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma suggested that Kurukshetra could develop facilities similar to those in Vrindavan, which draws countless pilgrims each year, to welcome a higher influx of visitors. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, upgrade visitor amenities, and spotlight the area’s rich cultural heritage, offering a unique experience rooted in its historical significance.
