As the year once again draws to a close, we have much to look back on here at Simple Flying. 2024 was an exciting year that saw us diversify from commercial aviation into also covering military and private aviation . The year also saw us launching our new " Threads " commenting system, including the ability for users to submit their own discussion topics (if you haven't given it a go yet what are you waiting for?).

Naturally, there were plenty of major aviation news stories throughout the year. Most notable, in my opinion, was the Boeing 737 MAX door fiasco . Our most viewed story of the year was from the military aviation initiative, with Aaron Spray taking a look at the aircraft that will replace the A-10 Warthog .

Meanwhile, our top commercial aviation story of the year looked at which airlines are switching Boeing 787 engine options, written by Rytis Beresnevičius. More than a third of the total Boeing 787 orders are powered by the GE Aerospace GEnx. One of our personal highlights of 2024 was being lucky enough to fly onboard the world's 1st Airbus A321XLR flight , operated by the Spanish flag carrier Iberia.
