James Santos, center, head of marketing with T Galleria by DFS, shares the experience he and his team took in creating the “Guam in Bloom” exhibit that opened at the Tumon venue on Sept. 18, 2024. The exhibit is a partnership between DFS and the University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant’s Guam Green Growth Circular Economy Makerspace and Innovation Hub.

It aims to promote Guam’s native flora and the critical role that the plants play in the island’s ecosystems. Included amongst the displays are articles of clothing created from can rings, rice and barley bags and fallen palm leaves, as well as other repurposed waste items.
