After taking a step back from the series, it has already been confirmed that Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pompeo) would be coming back for at least seven episodes this time around.

Season 20 was forced to cut down to just 10 episodes due to the Hollywood strikes, so now the ABC drama is getting back to normal she could appear in as many as 14 episodes, TVLine reports. Now, fellow fan-favourite resident Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) will continue to recur after showing up in just four episodes last time. The actor has just secured a deal with the show to bump his role up to at least five episodes when this show returns this September.
