The golf resort landscape in the United States has changed dramatically in recent years, with the emergence of multiple “mega-resorts” boasting four courses or more under one roof. When I started covering golf travel, you could count those on the fingers of one hand. This trend, along with the reality of the golf media business, which is to focus on the shiny and new and ignore the classics, caused many once high-profile destinations to drop under the national radar.
