Prayagraj: An important meeting of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), comprising members of faction of seers led by Ravindra Puri of Sri Niranjani akhara, was held in Prayagraj on Friday. The meeting, presided over by Ravindra Puri, took place at the headquarters of the Niranjani akhara located in Daraganj. The members of ABAP condemned attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh.

They demanded that the Indian govt should intervene in the issue to protect the interests of the Hindu community. The members also demanded that the state govt should enhance the facilities provided to all 13 akharas during the Maha Kumbh , compared to Kumbh-2019. They maintained that since the number of devotees and visitors to the akharas would be higher, the state govt should increase the financial and other amenities provided to the akharas.

They stated that although the govt is making efforts to restore the temples of Prayagraj and the entire country, there are still many ancient temples in state and other parts of the country that need immediate govt assistance and should be restored. The ABAP also resolved to contribute to the cleanliness of the mela area, supporting cleanliness drive initiatives of the govt. They pledged to take all necessary steps to ensure that the ‘grand and green' Maha Kumbh is clean as well.

A second meeting of ABAP is scheduled for Saturday (Oct 5)..
