Dozens of people have been arrested following a huge day of action by Greater Manchester Police . The force stopped over 100 vehicles and conducted seven warrants in a bid to stop neighbourhood crime. Officers used traffic stops, warrants, and knife arches to conduct a major operation across Manchester, Bury, and Bolton on Thursday (November 14).

The day of action comes as part of Operation AVRO - a force wide initiative that delivers extra resources and specialist officers to a different district within Greater Manchester each month. READ MORE: New images reveal what Stockport Pyramid could look like inside as it's transformed into 'luxury dining experience' Officers in Bury stopped 45 vehicles on Manchester Road in Whitefield for speeding, document checks, driving with defects, driving without due care and attention, and driving while using a mobile phone. In Bolton , they tackled shoplifting and car theft, and in Manchester a man was arrested on suspicion of theft from person following investigations into mobile phone thefts.

In total, 52 arrests were made across the region as officers focused on neighbourhood crime such as burglary and theft.
