Kate Garraway became visibly emotional on Good Morning Britain this week as she made an admission about her late husband Derek Draper . Kate was joined by co-host Sean Fletcher and entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold to discuss the latest TV news, when Richard revealed she is up for another gong at the National Television Awards later this year. Kate's latest documentary Derek’s Story is nominated for an NTA in the Best Authored Documentary category, going up against programmes like Rose Ayling-Ellis’ Signs for Change, Rhod Gilbert’s Stand Up To Cancer doc A Pain in the Neck and documentaries from Robbie Williams and David Beckham .

Commenting on her nomination, Richard Arnold told her: "If you go home with that gong it’ll be a hat-trick.” And Kate agreed: "It will be a hat-trick – apparently you never win three. But I would love it to do well, I would love people to recognise it because it’s Derek’s story and also it was really all about carers.

Unpaid and paid. I’d like them to get some focus, really." Richard said: "Amen to that.

" Kate's latest instalment in her documentary series highlights the importance of carers in the later stages of Derek's life, and she was clearly emotional as she reflected on the help they'd given her. Kate won two consecutive NTAs for her two other documentaries, Kate Garraway : Caring for Derek in 2022 and Finding Derek in 2021. Derek passed away at the age of just 56 after battling long Covid, which left him in a coma.
