During the ITV programme, Kate and Ed Balls discussed the numerous arrests made in recent days following nationwide riots. Informing viewers that the Home Secretary has stated courts are ready to deliver swift justice, Courts Minister Heidi Alexander joined the show for further insight into the situation.

Kate queried: "Good to know the courts are on standby, but where are those found guilty going to go? "We're aware prisons are under immense strain, with around 500 additional places created in the short term. But there's worry, isn't there, that there will still be measures in September to release prisoners early." "So, what kind of sentences will they receive? How long can they realistically be held? Will it be comparable to some of the climate activities sentences that we've seen, which is at least four years?" However, the Labour MP seemed overwhelmed by the volume of information Kate presented.
