The Minnesota Cultivated Wild Rice Council wants food fans to help celebrate National Rice Month by voting for your favorite wild rice recipe in the “People’s Choice” category of the 15th annual “Get Wild with Wild Rice” recipe contest. A variety of wild rice recipes were submitted from across the country. One of the contestants is Laura Kurella, a Region native, who regularly competes in a variety of culinary competitions.
Kurella, who now lives in Wellston, Michigan, submitted her Argentine Wild Cherry Chicken Platter for the competition. To vote for your favorite dish in the “People's Choice” category of the contest, visit mnwildrice.org .
Voting must be done by Sept. 30. Taste of the Farm The event “Taste of the Farm” will be held Oct.
3 at Fair Oaks Farms in Fair Oaks, Ind. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The ACF Chefs of Northwest Indiana will be hosting the event, which is sponsored by Region Roots. Food, drinks and live entertainment will be featured. Also featured at the event will be Chef Art Smith and Farmer Lee Jones.
