A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has appeared to tease a return to the Game of Thrones universe for Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams.
Martin discussed a trip to London on his blog and said he met Williams for dinner while he was there. He then alluded to an upcoming project they were both seemingly involved in, but ( in a somewhat rare move ) stopped himself from saying too much. "We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about.
.. Well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it," Martin said.
"But it could be so much fun." Williams isn't known to be involved in any upcoming Game of Thrones projects currently, and as there are only prequels planned so far, wouldn't fit in any either, at least as Arya. That's not to say she couldn't appear as another character, perhaps even as an ancestor of the Stark family.
Myriad Game of Thrones spin-offs have been announced and myriad have been cancelled since the main show's ending in 2019. Successes include House of the Dragon, the second season of which has just concluded , alongside A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will adapt Martin's novella series . A movie is also reportedly in the works , and given how successful the main show and its prequel have been , it's likely HBO is planning even more.
One sequel series focused on Arya's brother Jon Snow was in the works but soon cancelled , so perhaps Williams could return in a continuation of her own. Other cancelled spin-off.
