Robert Way GE Healthcare ( NASDAQ: GEHC ) and Amazon’s AWS unit ( NASDAQ: AMZN ) have entered into a strategic collaboration to develop purpose-built foundation models and generative AI applications to help healthcare professionals better diagnose and manage the care of patients. Under the collaboration, GE Healthcare will utilize Amazon Bedrock to build and scale its own proprietary generative AI applications for the healthcare industry, according to a statement . GE Healthcare developers also plan to use Amazon Q Developer to accelerate software development and Amazon Q Business to help reduce the cognitive burden on doctors and increase efficiency.

GE Healthcare also intends to modernize its foundational models developed on Amazon SageMaker to build, train and deploy machine learnings models and accelerate the development and deployment of web-based imaging applications. The AI-powered applications will integrate with AWS HealthLake and AWS HealthImaging. Earlier this month, GE Healthcare announced it plans to acquire Intelligent Ultrasound Group's ( IAU ) clinical AI business and certain other clinical AI-related assets for approximately $51 million.
