Gardeners’ World star Carol Klein once shared a bath with John Lennon - completely unaware who the singer was. Carol was a budding artist in Manchester at the time when The Beatles had been performing at the Oasis club. Despite not having the money to actually attend one of the big nightclubs in the city, Carol says she and her friends were invited to an afterparty.
On arrival, Carol says she noticed a number of other girls “seemed excited” because “some lads from a group” were also in attendance. They’d been playing at the Oasis club just down the road from Amigos, I think - I would have never had enough money to go to a club. “I got talking to one of them but the place was so crowded and the music was so loud, that we retired to the bathroom and sat in the bath to have a conversation.
