Gardeners’ World fans were blown away by an intricate garden featuring a Hobbit-esque world. Friday night’s instalment (16 August) of show included a visit to viewer Nigel’s house, where he had made a special garden out of twisted wood. Created over several years, it featured lots of little nooks and crannies, a stunning maze of walkways and an eye-catching hut, all made from branches.

“This is my crinkle crankle folly,” he said. “The idea is it’s something like The Hobbit, The Lord Of the Rings." “I always think a good garden should be full of secrets, excitement,” he went on.

Viewers were very taken with Nigel and his vision – and the fact he had a dog that looked a lot like Don’s beloved Ned – with some saying his creation was one of the best things they had ever seen on the much-loved BBC programme. “What an incredible garden,” on X as the TV show aired. : “Oh I adore this wonderful quirky garden, definitely secret and mysterious and above all so beautiful.

” “The crinkle crankle folly is the most amazing garden creation I think I've ever seen,” , as one “the garden of dreams”, adding: "Love love love." Someone else : “What a fantastic Hobbity garden.” “The crinkle crankle hut is amazing,” , as another viewer it was "one of the best things I’ve ever seen on Gardeners' World".
