Excise authorities are deploying ganja testing kits to identify persons who consume not only ganja but also other narcotics. Speaking to media in Hanamkonda on Sunday, excise circle inspector V. Chandra Mohan disclosed that the testing kits can identify 12 different kinds of drugs that a person has consumed.

“Officials are going to conduct special ganja testing drives on lines of drunk driving and nab persons who consume ganja,” the inspector underlined. He said following orders of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to completely eradicate illegal transport and usage of ganja and drugs in Telangana, excise officials, in coordination with police officials, are taking necessary measures, apart from maintaining strict vigil at important locations across the district.

Chandra Mohan said excise department in the district has seized 227 kilograms of ganja within six months in Kazipet limits and has registered 14 cases against peddlers till date. He disclosed that as per instructions of TSNAB (Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau) director Sandeep Shandilya and excise enforcement director Kamalhasan Reddy, excise officials are booking ganja peddlers under sections wherein bail will not be available for at least seven to eight months..
