1 2 Prayagraj : Chants of ‘ Ganpati Bappa Morya ' echoed on the roads of city on Tuesday as a large number of devotees in various groups went for immersion of idol of Lord Ganesh. Incessant showers failed to deter the enthusiasm and fervour of the devotees. Drenched in showers, different samitis of the city took the idols of the deity to Andhawa for immersion.

These groups of devotees danced and sang on their way to immerse the idol while throwing gulal on each other. Young boys and girls, along with seniors of the family, were seen dancing to the hit numbers and offering prasad to the onlookers on the way. Before taking the idol for immersion, the devotees offered mahabhog to the deity and the prasad was distributed to all.

The last aarti was also performed in the puja pandals and homes from where the Lord Ganesh was given a warm adieu. Around 500 small and big idols of the Ganesha were immersed at Andhawa and also in makeshift ponds made by the devotees. Emotionally charged chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya' reverberated across the water bodies amid adequate security arrangements by the local police and volunteers of civil defence.
