Thursday, October 3, 2024 Jaipur: Under considerable pressure from Congress leaders, particularly former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the BJP government hastily opened the Gandhi Vatika in Central Park on Wednesday. Nearly a year after its inauguration by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on September 23, 2023, the public finally gained access to this museum, which was built by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) at a cost of Rs 87 crore. The government officials appeared unprepared for the sudden opening of the Gandhi Vatika museum, as the event seemed to have been organized in haste.
This lack of readiness was evident during Wednesday’s public gathering, where last-minute arrangements were made to accommodate visitors. The hurried nature of the event highlighted the mounting pressure on the administration to respond quickly, following demands from Congress leaders and public interest. Despite the unplanned execution, officials managed to ensure the museum was accessible, although several logistical issues were apparent.
During the event, an important announcement was made by Jain, revealing that entry to the museum would be free for the entire month of October. This decision was likely intended to encourage public engagement and generate interest in the newly opened facility. The free admission offer stands as a gesture of goodwill, providing the public an opportunity to explore the museum without financial barriers, particularly after its long-awaited opening.
