Tuesday, August 13, 2024 Guangzhou-based maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider GAMECO has begun its first comprehensive 12-year inspection of an Emirates Airbus A380. The aircraft, bearing the registration A6-EDV, arrived in Guangzhou on July 14, marking GAMECO’s inaugural outsourced maintenance check for the A380 model. Emirates, already a long-standing customer of GAMECO, has been receiving heavy maintenance services for its A380 fleet from the firm since January.

As per Cirium fleet data, Emirates operates a total of 119 A380s, with over 100 currently active. The airline remains one of the few to continue its commitment to the A380, while others have phased out the aircraft during the pandemic. The A380 undergoing maintenance in Guangzhou was originally delivered to Emirates in July 2012 and is equipped with four Engine Alliance GP7000 engines.
