Much like winter, a Game of Thrones movie is coming. The project—whose cinematic universe began with the TV series, an adaptation of George R.R.

Martin ’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series—is in the very early stages of development at Warner Bros. Pictures, according to multiple outlets . Because the discussions are just beginning, no actors, writers or directors have been attached to the film.

E! News has reached out to Warner Bros. Pictures for comment but has not heard back. The trek back to Westeros in the form of a film, however, would be a bit of a loop on the path of Kingsroad, as a series of films was actually one of the original options for how the HBO series should end, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

“It might need a feature to tie things up,” Martin told the outlet in 2014. “Something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.

” Since the Wall fell in the final season of the Game of Thrones series—which ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019 on HBO’s streaming platform—multiple spinoff series have been announced. House of the Dragon , the prequel series set roughly 200 years before the events of the original show, aired its divisive season two finale in August. And while another prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms , is set to debut in late 2025, according to Deadline , a third spinoff based on Kit Harington ’s character Jon Snow was previously announced, but is no longer mov.
