As part of its fundraising campaign for a new company home on Edward Street in Limerick, The GAFF, presents a rehearsed reading of Dylan Thomas’ poetic masterpiece Under Milk Wood at Belltable on Saturday August 31 . This production is staged as a rehearsed reading and will feature the very best of Limerick’s theatrical talent, including Mike Finn, Myles Breen, Jean McGlynn, Aidan Crowe, Joanne Ryan, Jessica Bray, Pius McGrath, Sinéad O’Brien, Paul McCarthy, Dan Mooney, Nigel Dugdale, Padhraic Hastings, Justyna Cwojdziska and many more. Speaking of the project, director Liam McCarthy said “it’s brilliant to get the opportunity to tackle a piece like this in a rehearsed reading setting– It’s a beautiful and very poetic play, full of language and fun.

It’s a unique and touching depiction of a village that has, as Thomas writes, ‘fallen head over bells in love.’ “It’s a privilege to be able to work with so many outstanding Limerick artists on this project- and with 68 speaking parts it really does take a village! It’s lovely too to come together to support the Gaff and their new space and this promises to be a special night.” The Gaff is a rehearsal and development space for performing arts.

Originally situated at the former Red Cross Hall on Cecil Street which has since fallen into disrepair and is no longer fit for purpose. The Gaff will now work from the old Tait Clothing Factory which is currently being renovated. The Gaff takes it’s name from.
