Monday, January 27, 2025 In its 2024 investigation phase, the Future Meeting Space (FMS) innovation network conducted a thorough analysis to determine the continuity, disappearance, and emergence of various processes, products, and services within the business events landscape. The project was spearheaded by the GCB German Convention Bureau and the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, who shared the significant outcomes during a digital forum named “Emerging Opportunities, Persisting Classics, Fading Models: Business Events in a Transformative Era.” The research initially focused on thirteen critical megatrends from automation to urbanization, examining their roles as catalysts for change within the sector.
Tilman Naujoks of the Fraunhofer IAO launched the digital gathering on January 27, presenting these megatrends and revealing a heat map that delineated their impact across the event lifecycle, highlighting areas of high and low relevance. “Artificial intelligence, sustainability, and demographic shifts are already recognized as having a significant influence on business events,” noted Dr. Stefan Rief, leader of the Organisational Development and Work Design Research Unit at Fraunhofer IAO.
