New Delhi: Newly-elected Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's bag with "Palestine" emblazoned on it has gained praise from across the border. Former Pakistan Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain heaped praises on the Congress MP for expressing solidarity with the Palestinians. He also slammed Pakistani lawmakers for not standing up against Israel.

Hussain criticised his colleagues for "not showing courage" in a X post. Sharing a photo of Priyanka Gandhi from outside the Indian Parliament, Hussain wrote, "What else could we expect from a granddaughter of a towering freedom fighter like Jawaharlal Nehru? Priyanka Gandhi has stood tall amidst pigmies, such shame that to date, no Pakistani member of Parliament has demonstrated such courage.#ThankYou.

" Priyanka Gandhi on Monday carried a bag to Parliament that had "Palestine" emblazoned on it. Gandhi was seen carrying a handbag emblazoned with the word "Palestine" and Palestinian emblems, including a watermelon -- seen as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity. The Congress general secretary has been raising her voice against Israel's actions in Gaza and expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

The ruling BJP hit out at the Wayanad MP over the bag, with MPs wondering what message she wants to send across. "She did not speak a word on atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh but wants to make a fashion statement with the Palestine bag," said Anurag Thakur.
