Article content Brother Love’s Good Time Gospel Hour Stage 1, Westbury Theatre, 10330 84 Ave. 4 stars out of 5 Brother Love has come to town, because “Edmonton’s got quantitatively more sin than Calgary!” But don’t fret, because he and Sister Alice are here to help, with their delightfully demented televangelist revival. The props, casting and costumes are spot-on, with Brother Love and Sister Alice clad in pastel polyester and rhinestones, hair slicked back and bouffanted, respectively.

Audience members receive a miniature tambourine, to their universal delight, as well as fake cash to put in the collection box. So fun! If it’s not already clear, this send-up of evangelical Christianity won’t appeal to everyone, and could certainly offend many. There are a lot (a lot) of songs about, say, Jesus loving particular sex acts.

The humour ranges from blue to brown, if you know what I mean. But it’s clear what Noam Osband (Brother Love) and Edna Mira Raia (Sister Alice) are aiming for, and they certainly achieve it. Find your Fringe! You can read all of our reviews here.
