Friends co-star David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry might not have been super close as we assumed them to me. Schwimmer played Ross Geller in the hit TV sitcom narrating the life of six friends, living recklessly in Manhattan, while Perry essayed Chandler Bing. Now, in a shocking revelation, Schwimmer publicly disclosed he shared a ‘reserved’ equation with Perry, who passed away in October 2023.
The secret was out during the actor’s recent appearance on the Origins podcast, where host Cush Jumbo recounted her conversation with Perry, in which he complimented Schwimmer’s comic timing and professionalism. The late icon referred to Schwimmer as a “linchpin” who the entire cast would look up to know “physically what direction things should go in.” Upon learning Perry’s intake, Schwimmer was taken by surprise explaining how the former rarely expressed such emotions directly to him.
“That's interesting for many reasons, to hear that. That's a huge compliment, and I'm surprised to hear it because Matthew was reserved with me, he would not say that to me. But I appreciate that a lot,” Schwimmer said.
