THE full extent of the facial injuries suffered by Freddie Flintoff after his Top Gear horror crash have been revealed. In his new BBC1 series, Field of Dreams on Tour, he shows his lacerated nose, cheek and mouth in a tearful home video made just weeks after the accident in December 2020. Tonight’s episode saw Freddie make the emotional video as he recovered at his family home where he ended up being a recluse for seven months.

He revealed he suffered from nightmares, flashbacks and ‘shouldn't have survived’ the Top Gear crash, which saw him airlifted to hospital from the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey. Freddie was in a three-wheel roadster as he filmed an episode of the BBC motoring show with co-stars Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris. As a result the show was cancelled and he received £9m in compensation.

The father-of-four said: “I am struggling already and I need help. I really am. "I’m not the best at asking for it.

"I need to stop crying every two minutes. “I genuinely should not be here after what happened. It’s going to be a long road back and I’ve only just started.

“I’ve got to look at the positives, I’ve got another chance, and I’m going to go at it. I’m seeing that as how it is - a second go.” Next week, the programme will also show how taking his young cricket team to India helped him overcome the ordeal when they visited an orphanage.

Becoming teary again, he says: "We’ve all had things we’ve had to get through - me included..
